PATH is a unique and progressive service organization whose mission is “to break the cycle of homelessness by empowering people with the tools for self-sufficiency.” As so much more than a shelter, PATH can greatly benefit from the array of talents and leadership qualities we at Mosaic have to offer.

Earlier this summer, we formed a team from two small groups and friends to take part in the “PATHCooks” program. We had a lot of fun creating and cooking a unique menu (wrapped fish, spicy-peanut noodles, almond and nectarine salad) - right in PATH’s full-service kitchen. More significantly though, we were able to sit down and befriend several men and women in transition who had been missing people in their lives to provide support - be it family or friends.

As an introduction to our new partnership, we’ll be participating regularly with “PATHcooks” and everyone is invited.

A small group of individuals (Green Mosaic) are working to collect recyclables and subsequenty turn them into local recycling centers. We then donate all the cash collected to the Breath of Heaven community in Zambia (which is an Awaken Humanity project). Right now we are looking for individuals to help us seperate all the donations of recyclables that we receive. Generally, sorting requires about 30 minutes of volunteer work immediately following a church service- depending on how many volunteers we have and how much we receive in donations. We are also in need of volunteers to help transport recyclables to recycling centers. We have a goal of raising $2000 for this program by fall of this year and we’re only about $300 away. However, we would like to continue to keep this program running continuously as a regular revenue stream for other Awaken Humanity projects moving forward.
Providing one-on-one mentoring relationships for over 50 years to children all over the world. BBBS consists of two mentoring programs. The first is the ‘Community Based Mentoring Program’ where you meet two times a month for 2 to 4 hours, doing activities of your choice (go to the park, a museum, play video games, etc.). The second is the ‘School Based Program’ where you meet at school with the child once a week for an hour.

BBBS is usually recommended to the parents of children with at risk youth. 90% of the children are living in households under the poverty line and more than 75% are from single parent or guardian homes.

This is a 1 year commitment, however, due to the flexibility of schedule and the one-on-one relationship that is built many ‘Bigs’
choose to continue in the program for long after their commitment.

There is a specifically large need for men in their 20’s and 30’s.
However all are welcome.
